The British Navy has posted an advertisement for a Rear Admiral in charge of submarines.

The British Navy posted an advertisement for a rear admiral in charge of submarines on the LinkedIn service, RIA Novosti reports, citing a publication in the Times newspaper.

As noted, this is due to personnel problems in the department. The vacancy involves command of “elite operations” and work with nuclear weapons, and the position is called “head of the submarine department.”

The Times writes that the posting of the ad shocked the military community, and some considered the search for job candidates “disgraceful.” The publication notes that there is currently not a single person in the British Navy who is both suitable for this position and would like to take it. Therefore, the fleet command expects that the vacancy will be of interest to some of the military retirees.

In July, Sky News, citing sources in the country’s Ministry of Defense, stated that the Royal Navy was experiencing difficulties in recruiting personnel, which could affect its ability to conduct combat operations at sea, as well as ensuring the functioning of its nuclear deterrent.
