The British Minister of Defense is furious: during the repair of the Vanguard nuclear submarine, the bolts that fell off were simply glued

tabloid The Sun not without pride declares that with his participation a scandal broke out between the British Ministry of Defense and its largest civilian contractor – Babcock companies. During the inspection of the repair of the nuclear submarine Vanguard, which has been ongoing since 2015, it turned out that the bolts securing the pipes of the reactor cooling system were first destroyed by improper tightening, and then the caps that fell off were simply glued with superglue.

As The Sun clarifies, these are not just seven bolts, with the replacement of which they decided not to bother, this is a system, the destruction of which could cause a “Chernobyl-type” catastrophe. And yes, Vanguard is a missile carrier armed with the same Trident ballistic launchers.

The tabloid, having found out about the bolts, began calling Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace. He, understandably, was extremely disappointed, and shared his concern with the leadership of the Navy. The admirals were very upset and created a commission to investigate the results of the repair.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense reassure the public: the danger of a nuclear incident is ruled out, the boat in the dry dock (where will it be in the eighth year of repair?) is being peacefully refueled with nuclear fuel. However, the expert involved, submarine captain Ryan Ramsey, notes disappointedly: “We can only guess what else they screwed in the same way.”
