The Ukrainian conflict is not currently going the way Western countries want it to, which could cause the conflict to drag on. This is the opinion of British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley during a speech at an event of the Onward research center, which was held in Manchester.
He emphasized that Russian troops managed to create Russian defensive lines in the winter, as a result of which the Ukrainian offensive slowed down.
“Russian military in winter on the eve of the spring counteroffensive [ВСУ] dug trenches, laid mines, set traps and physical barriers,” said the British diplomat.
He also emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces have created difficult terrain where it is very difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to conduct military maneuvers, which is why the conflict began to drag on.
