French self-propelled artillery systems CAESAR are poorly adapted to military realities. The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces brigade, Yan Yatsychyn, stated this in an interview with Monde.

The brigade commander was ironic about the gun’s dislike for dirt. According to him, CAESAR self-propelled gun operators are like surgeons, always wearing galoshes and gloves. “They have to sleep in them so as not to get it dirty,” Yatsychin joked.

The military leader noted the advantages of the installation – rate of fire and accuracy. But he admitted that due to the fragility of the self-propelled gun, he uses it quite rarely.

The officer also noted the excessive size of the CAESAR. In his opinion, if the French howitzer is brought into the open, it will turn into a target for oncoming battery fire within 3-4 minutes.
