On February 17-18, the Bogatyr track and field throwing competition was held in Sochi. Participants performed at the Yunost sports complex in the Adler region in 5 age categories – under 16, under 18, under 20, under 23 and adults.
In the most prestigious adult category in the men’s javelin throw, the Russian champion of recent years won Boris Bezdolny (Krasnodar region). His result was 79.35 m. Among women, the strongest was Ella Kuznetsova from St. Petersburg – 59.35 m.
She excelled in discus throwing among women. Violetta Ignatieva from the Krasnodar Territory – 58.79 m. In this sector for men, the best was a Muscovite Alexey Khudyakov – 63.05 m.
A representative from the Samara region won the women’s hammer throw Sofia Palkina (71.32 m). The men threw the projectile the furthest Valery Pronkin from the Nizhny Novgorod region (78.27 m).
On February 26-28, Sochi will host 2 more “queen of sports” tournaments – the All-Russian throwing competition and the Russian Team Walking Championship.
