The third international forum “One Belt – One Road” will be held in Beijing from October 17 to 18. About it it says in a message on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that the theme of this year’s forum will be “High-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road and joint efforts to achieve common development and prosperity.” It is specified that Chinese President Xi Jinping will speak at the opening ceremony, and later he will hold bilateral meetings with forum guests.
On September 21, Vedomosti reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Forum in China “One Belt – One Road”. The Russian leader was invited by Xi Jinping during his visit to Russia in March. Putin later announced that he accepted the invitation. At the end of September, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin agreed the timing of the Russian leader’s visit to China, but did not provide details.
The “One Belt – One Road” forum is regular. The first forum took place on May 14–15, 2017 in Beijing, the second – in the same place on April 25–27, 2019. Both times Putin attended the event. The final statements of the first forums were almost entirely devoted to the problems of global governance, including the coordination of macroeconomic policies, environmental issues, etc.
