At an operational meeting in the government of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov explained, why a state of emergency (emergency situation) is not introduced in the region due to massive shelling from Ukraine. This topic is one of the most frequent topics addressed by local residents.

According to the governor, when introducing various regimes in the region, it is necessary to understand their purpose. Thus, now in the Belgorod region the level of terrorist danger has been increased and a medium-level response regime is in effect. “Within the current legislation, this helps us make any decisions. We have this toolkit. By introducing a state of emergency, what issues will we solve?” – said Mr. Gladkov. According to him, there is no point in introducing a state of emergency if it duplicates other instruments.

Mr. Gladkov also believes that residents are unlikely to be happy with the introduction of a state of emergency in the Belgorod region. According to him, if it is introduced, compensation for a damaged car will be 10 thousand rubles, for a burned car – 20 thousand rubles. “Will residents of the Belgorod region agree with this? Of course not,” the governor concluded. He recalled that residents are now being paid the full cost of restoring damaged cars after an independent expert assessment.

The Belgorod region is subjected to massive shelling from Ukraine every day. Over the past two weeks, 152 people, including 11 children, have been injured in the region due to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. 24 civilians were killed, including 2 children. Yesterday, March 24, air defense forces shot down ten air targets over Belgorod. Because of this, 2 people were injured, damage got 15 private households in Belgorod itself and the Belgorod region.
