Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill issued an order regarding the holding of funeral services and burials for those killed as a result of the shelling of Belgorod. These events will be financed from the funds of the Belgorod diocese.

The decision was made after a telephone conversation between the Patriarch and Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, where the situation in the city after the shelling on December 30 was discussed.

“The primate ordered, if necessary, funeral services and burials of the dead to be carried out at the expense of the Belgorod diocese,” the press release says.

The press service did not clarify whether this order applies only to those killed in the shelling that occurred on December 30, or includes victims of other attacks in the region.

Let us remind you that on December 30, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a missile attack on the center of Belgorod. 25 people were killed, including five children, and 108 Belgorod residents were injured. On January 2, Belgorod was shelled four times. According to the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkova, as a result of yesterday’s attacks on the city, one person was killed and 11 were injured.
