The ban on the export of rapeseed seeds from Russia was extended until February 29, 2024

The Russian government has extended the ban on the export of rapeseed until February 29, 2024. Relevant resolution published on the official portal of legal information.

At the same time, the ban does not apply to rape seeds that are exported to the states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) or within the framework of international intergovernmental agreements, as well as as international humanitarian aid by a foreign state based on decisions of the Russian government.

It is allowed to export rapeseed seeds by road or rail through the checkpoint in Zabaikalsk, as well as move them through foreign countries between parts of the territory of Russia.

In addition, rapeseed seeds can be exported to ensure the activities of the military units of the Russian Federation on the territory of foreign states, as well as to the territory of the Baikonur complex, to the island of Svalbard, to the republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. It is not forbidden to export seeds for personal use.

The ban on the export of rapeseed seeds was introduced on April 1 until August 31, 2022. Then it was extended until February 28 and August 31, 2023.

In June, the government published a decree according to which Russia can restrict the import of seeds of potatoes, wheat, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower and sugar beet from October 1 to December 31, 2023. An exception is expected for import from the EAEU member countries, transit, and import by individuals for personal use.
