The ministers of sports of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland addressed the International Olympic Committee with a statement in which they urged not to allow athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus to the 2024 Olympics.

According to the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, the ministers of the four countries thanked international sports organizations for solidarity with Ukraine, but at the same time condemned the efforts of the IOC to return Russian and Belarusian athletes to competitions.

“Sport is not above politics and not outside of it,” Lithuanian Minister Jurate Shyugzhene said.
