The Russian Baltic Fleet will conduct dozens of major exercises in the Kaliningrad region this winter. Aviation, air defense forces, tank and motorized rifle units, artillery, and reconnaissance will take part in them. The press service of the fleet reported on the preparation of the exercises.
By the new academic year (it will begin in the troops on December 1), the training and material base of the training grounds located in the Kaliningrad region has been modernized.
The press service noted that “in the winter period of training at the training grounds of the Baltic Fleet, several dozen large-scale exercises of various levels are planned.”
Back in 2016, there were reports that the 11th Army Corps had been formed in the region as part of the Baltic Fleet. The reinforcement of the army corps with a new motorized rifle division has been officially announced. The Russian military, reporting this, stressed that the new division was a response to the growth of NATO activity near the borders of the Russian Federation.
