A press conference was held in Moscow, at which new textbooks on general history and the history of Russia for 10th and 11th grades were presented. They completely reworked the sections from the 1970s to the zero years, there is a section on the special operation, the law on foreign agents is mentioned. They will be sold 20% cheaper than the current one – at a price of 849 rubles. Training will begin on September 1st.

The work on the textbook was carried out under the guidance of Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President, Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society. “Completely revised, rewritten sections “70s”, “80s”, “90s” and “zero” years. Added a section from 2014 to the present, including NWO. The authors literally wrote with their own hand much of the last listed, ”he said at a press conference (quoted by TASS).

Textbooks contain QR codes with links to multimedia materials. Mr. Medinsky lamented that he had to “remove several films at the last second from the recommended ones.” “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “Quiet Don”, “Diamond Hand” or “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears”, because they are labeled “18+”, he said and added that a request was sent to the Ministry of Culture “for this ridiculous rigidity put away”. “Our schoolchildren should not be protected from this, certainly not from these films,” he added.

The publication consists of four books: “History of Russia” (10th grade), “World History” (10th grade), “History of Russia” (11th grade) and “World History” (11th grade). As noted at the press conference, in this way, for the first time, two courses are synchronized – the history of Russia and general history.

MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov became the co-author of textbooks on Russian history, and Alexander Chubaryan, scientific director of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, became the co-author of textbooks on Russian history. Mr. Chubaryan said at a press conference that the new textbooks show Russia’s contribution to world history.

They updated the history of the Second World War, showing the role of the Great Patriotic War in its overall outcome, without duplicating the relevant topics from the textbook on national history, he explained. “We focus on the world context of modern events, we show what world phenomena have led to modern events,” the academician said.

Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov, who presented the textbooks at a press conference, said that the department had agreed with the authors to complete work on history textbooks for grades five through ninth in 2024. Medinsky said that new textbooks for grades 5-9 should be ready by September 1, 2024.
