The authorities of the Leningrad region have limited the holding of rallies and other protests until May 1, the press service of the regional administration reported. Relevant solution was adopted by the regional operational headquarters.
The reason for introducing restrictions was “the threat of terrorist attacks and other provocations.” Vice-governors and officials by the head of the region, Alexander Drozdenko, have been tasked with holding meetings with residents. They will allow citizens to discuss pressing issues that arise.
Until December 2022, there was a ban on holding rallies and meetings in the region, introduced in connection with the basic alert regime. The question of lifting restrictions was raised on December 5, 2022 in connection with the recognition of the measure as excessive.
