Due to the increased tension in relations with Muslim states, the authorities of Sweden and Denmark plan to develop legislative measures aimed at limiting the holding of actions with the burning of the Koran. Recent protests in these countries, during which the Koran was burned or damaged, have caused outrage in the Muslim world, according to Reuters.
So, in recent weeks, several protests have taken place in Sweden and Denmark, during which the Koran was burned. In the first case, an Iraqi refugee burned a holy book in front of the Swedish parliament in Stockholm, and in the second, protesters burned a Koran outside the Saudi Arabian embassy in Copenhagen.
The governments of Sweden and Denmark expressed regret over what was happening, however, referring to their constitutional laws, they said that they had no right to ban such actions because of the need to protect freedom of speech. At the same time, the authorities nevertheless announced the possibility of considering legislative changes that would prevent such actions of demonstrators in the future.
