The mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontyev, in an interview with the ChEZ program on the RBC TV channel, said that the water had almost completely drained from the city, which was flooded after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
The situation in the city is gradually improving, and according to the mayor, they have begun draining the basements.
Leontiev also noted that electricity has been restored almost everywhere, and sewerage stations are being restored. However, settlements downstream continue to be under water, including houses, roads, cultural, medical and educational institutions. More than 900 people were evacuated, and food and medicine are being delivered to those who cannot be taken out.
Acting Governor of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, in his telegram channel also reported that the level of water rise in Nova Kakhovka decreased by 3 meters, to the level of 7 meters, and the water began to drain in Aleshki and Hola Pristan in the lower reaches of the Dnieper.
More than 6,000 people were evacuated from the flooded territories of the Novokahovsky city, Aleshkinsky and Golopristansky districts.
The evacuation is also carried out by Ukraine. According to Kyiv, 3,000 residents were deported from the territories of the Kherson region controlled by it, as well as from the Nikolaev region.
