The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reports that on Saturday an emergency regime was introduced in the Batken region in connection with the conflict with the use of weapons in the regions of the republic bordering with Tajikistan.

As noted in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the regime is introduced in order to “establish peace in the region, ensure the safety of citizens in the conflict centers, carry out work on the evacuation and resettlement of the population,” as well as “prevent the death of people and mobilize the relevant forces.”

The armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border began on September 14. Skirmishes were reported between military personnel of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in three places in the Batken region.

The Kyrgyz border service reported that at 06:00 (03:00 Moscow time) on Friday, the Tajik side began shelling the Kyrgyz border detachments.

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported the death of 24 people. 103 victims were admitted to hospitals, mainly with shrapnel and gunshot wounds.

More than 136,000 citizens were evacuated from the conflict zone.
