Mayor of Belgorod Anton Ivanov informed about plans to restore water supply in the area of Kharkovskaya Gora, which was left without electricity after a night accident at the 110 kV Yuzhnaya substation. The lack of water, according to the official, was due to a power outage at booster pumping stations.
According to preliminary data, on the night of today, September 8, at about 00:40, a short circuit occurred at the 10 kV bus section at the substation and transformer oil was released, which led to an emergency shutdown of electrical equipment. Residents in the area of Kharkovskaya Gora were left without electricity. By words Deputy Governor of the Belgorod Region Konstantin Polezhaev, social facilities were promptly transferred to work from backup circuits and power supply sources.
The emergency crews eliminated the cause of the short circuit by 9 am and are now engaged in commissioning. According to Anton Ivanov, 15 schools and 16 kindergartens are still without electricity. “Neither schools nor kindergartens stopped their work, children remain under supervision, the educational process continues. Parents can leave their children at home if they wish. In the near future – power engineers are counting on three hours – power supply at social facilities will be fully restored,” Mr. Ivanov said.
He added that special attention is being paid to the power supply of medical facilities – city hospital No. 2 and the children’s regional hospital, where electricity is planned to be returned in the near future.
