The loud noises reported by residents of the Tula and Kaluga regions, as well as the city of Kashira near Moscow, were the result of the aircraft switching to supersonic mode. This was stated in the governments of the regions and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Residents of a number of cities and districts of the Tula region complained on social networks that windows were shaking in their houses, and car alarms went off. Similar complaints were received from residents of the neighboring Kaluga region.
“In social networks, people report claps that were heard in different parts of the region. The Federal Air Transport Agency confirmed the flight of supersonic aircraft, ”wrote in Telegram-channel the governor of the Kaluga region Vladislav Shapsha. In the comments to his post, residents of the region indicated that they heard about six “pops”.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Tula region stated that there was no information about accidents and emergency situations in the region. They also assured that the transition of the aircraft to supersonic mode became the source of the sound.
The head of the city district of Kashira, Nikolai Khanin, reported a series of “several loud pops.” He indicated that he understood the concerns of the residents of Kashira “given the current situation.” However, according to him, there is no reason to panic. “Loud sounds are the result of the transition of aircraft to hypersonic mode. Our aviation is working normally. Please remain calm and vigilant,” he wrote in Telegram-channel.
