The Austrian opposition party called for a veto on Ukraine's accession to the EU

The opposition Freedom Party of Austria (APS) called on the government to veto Ukraine’s entry into the European Union (EU). APS leader Herbert Kickl made a corresponding statement, whose words are quoted in the release.

“The desire to admit a country in the midst of war into the EU is an act of political madness,” Kickl said.

He believes that after the “Brussels elite” dragged the European Union and Austria into an economic war, which is incompatible with the country’s neutrality and disrupts the growth of the Austrian economy, Ukraine’s entry into the organization will be “directly drawn into this war.”

In this regard, Kickl called on the Austrian government to veto Kyiv’s entry into the union.
