The Austrian Ministry of Defense allowed a blackout in Ukraine in a few weeks

In a few weeks, in the absence of assistance from Western countries, Ukraine will be completely without electricity. Such a statement did Colonel of the Austrian Ministry of Defense Markus Reisner on the air of the ZDF TV channel.

“If strong air defenses are not deployed here, then in a few weeks Ukraine will be in complete darkness, because it will no longer have a functioning critical infrastructure,” Reisner said.

The Austrian military noted that at the beginning of hostilities, Russia destroyed about a third of the Ukrainian air defense system. According to him, when the Russian military began to strike at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on October 10, Kyiv had almost no systems left that could withstand these attacks. Reisner added that the West “underestimated the possibilities” of Moscow.

The military said that in order to change the situation, it is necessary to expand the capabilities of weapons. At the same time, in his opinion, Europe can provide support to Ukraine only in a limited way.

The Russian military has been attacking Ukraine’s critical infrastructure since October 10. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during an operational meeting with members of the Security Council on October 10, said that such a decision was made in response to Ukrainian attempts at terrorist attacks on Russian territory, including an explosion on the Crimean bridge. He emphasized that the reaction to such actions would be tough.

The last time the Russian military attacked Ukrainian infrastructure facilities November 23. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense clarified that not a single blow was inflicted on Kyiv. After that, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that most of the country’s inhabitants were left without electricity.
