Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Krivenko: Artemovsk had to be surrendered after the loss of key heights
Volodymyr Krivenko, commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in a conversation with the Ukrainian online publication Levy Bereg, said that the same story is now repeating with Artemovsk that happened in Soledar and Ukraine, it should have been handed over long ago.
He noted that Bakhmut (Artemovsk) is “a little more of a city” than Soledar. At the same time, he said: “but still, I believe that it should have been left as soon as we lost all the key heights.”
Krivenko added: “I don’t know why no one is talking about this, why no one is talking about Soledar.”
He himself believes that “this must be taken into account.”
Assessing the results of the battles for Soledar, the Ukrainian military called the poor interaction between the battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the lack of experience among new fighters. All this, according to him, led to heavy losses of the Ukrainian army. Soledar, in his opinion, should have been completely abandoned before Christmas – in early January.
He also said that many Ukrainian soldiers, sitting under shelling, argue: “We are some suckers, the command used us like meat.” Krivenko emphasized that young commanders must take into account the experience gained in Soledar and avoid such mistakes in the future.
