The Arkhangelsk governor met in Malinovka with the Pomorie cross-country skiing team

The meeting was attended by Olympic champions Alexander Bolshunov and Natalya Nepryaeva, Olympic medalist Alexander Terentyev, other skiers representing the Arkhangelsk region team, and coach of the Russian team Yuri Borodavko.

These days, athletes are performing brilliantly at the Russian cross-country skiing championship in Malinovka, and a meeting with the head of the region is an opportunity to discuss the prospects for the development of a ski center, which is increasingly making itself known throughout Russia.

– There are absolutely all the conditions for creating a full-fledged training center for young athletes. All athletes will confirm that Malinovka is one of the best ski resorts in the country. And with the creation of additional infrastructure it will become the best,” Yuri Borodavko emphasized.

This year, as part of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry,” the Arkhangelsk Region received 120 million rubles from the federal budget to co-finance the construction of a hotel complex to accommodate athletes and coaching staff.

To equip 20 cottages with 4 rooms each, it is also necessary to equip the accompanying engineering infrastructure: a modular boiler room, modular sewage treatment facilities, a water treatment station, utility networks. These works are planned to be carried out at the expense of the investor and the regional budget.

The next stage in the development of the center’s infrastructure should be the construction of a sports facility, which will include the construction of a gym, two rooms for treadmills – devices for practicing skiing techniques using roller skis, – massage rooms, a commentary room, a room for electronic timing, a conference room, etc. zones necessary to create modern conditions for the training process and competitions. Design and estimate documentation is currently being developed; the next step will be to determine the source of financing.

In addition to plans to develop the infrastructure of the center, at the meeting of athletes with the head of the region, the issue of training the younger generation of skiers was discussed.

Veronica Stepanova, a member of the Arkhangelsk region team, proposed using the experience of world-famous skiers to train young athletes.

– I am very glad to hear this from you, our growing champions have someone to look up to – you are their idols, and your participation in their preparation will not only increase their professionalism, but will also be very inspiring. I support the idea, let’s work on joint development and implementation,” said Alexander Tsybulsky.
