Over the past day, the area of forest fires in the Ryazan region has increased by almost 24%, to 11.7 thousand hectares, a representative of emergency services told RIA Novosti. Yesterday, August 23, the fire area was estimated at 9.4 thousand hectares.
The region is in a state of emergency. Residents of the village of Olgino and the village of Golovanovo were evacuated. Smoke from fires in the region reached Moscow: smog and fumes in the capital hold on from last week. Rosleskhoz accused the authorities of the Ryazan region in concealing the extent of the fires. Government of the Russian Federation created commission for the elimination of forest fires.
