In April, the Ministry of Digital Development compiled a list of Russian social networks and programs that could replace foreign ones after companies leave Russia. TenChat was among the applications that were to replace Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram are blocked in Russia), as well as Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and Slack.
At the end of September, Apple removed the VK social networking app from the App Store. Also, the VK Music, VK Clips and VK Messenger applications disappeared from the store. As Apple explained, this happened due to British sanctions.
