The analyst explained the consequences of stopping oil transit through Druzhba

Igor Demin, spokesman and adviser to the President of Transneft, said on August 9 that Ukrtransnafta had stopped pumping oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Expert of the National Energy Security Fund, lecturer at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Stanislav Mitrakhovich does not exclude that a compromise will be found on this issue, but the consequences for Europe may be unpleasant.
In conversation with RT Mitrakhovich noted that Druzhba has two threads. According to the expert, the northern one goes through Belarus to Poland and Germany, and the southern one, in turn, goes through Ukraine to Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The analyst believes that what happened will lead to the fact that the volume of Russian oil supplied to these markets may be reduced.
As Mitrahovich noted, the pumping of oil through pipes should not have been subject to large-scale sanctions in Europe. The expert explains this by the fact that oil refineries (refineries), sitting on a pipe, are difficult to reorient to something else.
According to the expert, a compromise can be found on this issue, since Europe already lacks gas, coal is expensive, and additional stress from oil supplies will only complicate the situation.
