General Ben Hodges: Ukraine must actively recruit women for military service
Retired Lieutenant General, former Commander-in-Chief of the US Army in Europe Ben Hodges in conversation with the YouTube channel ProUA stated that at the moment Ukraine should more actively recruit women and citizens who previously left the country for military service.
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities were unable to carry out a good recruitment and mobilization campaign.
“I believe that the priority for the Ukrainian government now should be to attract young men and women into the army,” Hodges said.
He clarified that women can serve in a much larger number of positions than is believed in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in Western armies women are recruited to serve in artillery, tank forces and as engineers.
Among other things, the retired general added that the Ukrainian authorities could more actively demand the extradition of men who left the country.
