Armenian Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan called on the United States to take action in connection with Azerbaijan’s “anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh. He wrote about this on the social network X.

He recalled that acting Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Yuri Kim said that the United States “will not tolerate any attempts to ‘ethnically cleanse’ Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh.”

“Now it is the United States’ turn as to what measures will be used to stop the aggression and military attack on the trapped and starving people,” Marukyan wrote.

On September 19, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” in Nagorno-Karabakh to “restorate the constitutional order” of the republic. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic stated that the measures are necessary for the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territory of the region and “restoration of the constitutional order” of Azerbaijan.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia condemned Baku’s actions and called them “large-scale aggression.” They stated that the armed forces of the republic and military equipment are not stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In connection with the actions of Baku, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan convened meeting of the Security Council of the republic to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
