Antonov: The US is signaling Ukraine to refuse negotiations by introducing new sanctions

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov commented on the sanctions imposed by the United States against the Russian metallurgy.

“Another unjustified and politicized step,” Antonov said on the embassy’s telegram channel. “This is not even a ‘shot in the leg’, but an ‘indiscriminate shooting’.”

According to Antonov, Washington previously minimized purchases of Russian metals, and new sanctions will not lead to an increase in metal prices in the United States, but the American administration “introduces imbalances in the functioning of world markets” by joining the bans of “satellites.”

Antonov also said that the sanctions were introduced against the backdrop of regular statements by the Russian Federation about its readiness for negotiations with Ukraine; he called the situation a response “to the hand extended by Russia.”

“The purpose of the restrictions is clear: a signal to Kyiv with instructions not to agree to anything,” the ambassador concluded.
