Today, January 15, the All-Russian Municipal Forum “Small Motherland – the Strength of Russia” opened at the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia” at VDNKh. The forum is attended by 7.5 thousand representatives of municipalities from 89 regions of the country; it is held on behalf of President Vladimir Putin. The forum is organized by the All-Russian Association for the Development of Local Self-Government (VARMSU).

“You are at the forefront of communication with people, you are the face of the entire system of public power,” First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko told the forum participants. “Municipal service is not just a job, it is a service. Behind these words are values - attitudes that form both motivation and, ultimately, the result. Service is our cultural code. Because service is not just work, it is a sincere impulse to make the surrounding reality better day by day. Not because they will be paid or praised for it, but because the heart dictates so.”

“This is a very important forum, because the government closest to the people is municipal,” said Novgorod Region Governor Andrei Nikitin. “Municipal heads are the people who implement national projects with their own hands and carry out presidential decrees. The attention that is being paid to the heads of municipalities today is what should have been done.” The forum organizers also pay attention to the issues of training professional personnel for the local government system. “Last year, the School of Mayors began operating at the academy; four of its students received promotions during their studies,” said the rector of the Presidential Academy, general director of the ANO “Russia – Land of Opportunities” Alexei Komissarov. “The Academy will continue to search for and develop promising and talented young people across the country.”

During the day, 3 panel discussions, 32 round tables, and 25 lectures were held at the forum site at VDNKh. Eight pavilions are involved in the event. Four large-scale municipal projects of VARMSU were presented at the forum, as well as the results of the marathon “Municipal Dialogue 2023” were summed up. As before reported “Kommersant” presented for the first time a special Internet portal for the municipal community.
