Experts have expressed doubt that Bobi the dog, billed as the longest-living dog known to mankind, actually died at the age of 31, The Guardian reports.

Veterinarians said the dog’s age was registered in the national pet database, but the data entered into it was provided by the owners themselves. Internet users also claim that the photographs from 1999 may not show Bobby, since the dog’s paws are a different color.

Guinness World Records said it would review the veterinarians’ claims and is conducting an investigation into the matter.
