The age limit for the wards of the Circle of Kindness Foundation will be raised to 19 years

The list of diseases treated at the expense of the Circle of Kindness charity fund will be expanded. The age limit for patients that the foundation can provide assistance to will be raised from 18 to 19 years. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

“In the near future, the age until which you can receive assistance from the fund will be increased … From 18 to 19 years. I ask you to do this. So that within a year after coming of age, carefully, without prejudice to the patient, transfer funding for further therapy at the expense of funds provided for adults,” the head of state said.

He stated that the fund’s budget is currently “totally sufficient” to treat all the children who need such assistance. Significant amounts of money remain at the disposal of the Circle of Kindness, by the end of this year it will accumulate over 80 billion rubles, the president noted.

According to Mr. Putin, it is also necessary to provide for the possibility of paying for additional types and volumes of rehabilitation of sick children at the expense of the Circle of Kindness.

“Children should be able not only to receive treatment, but also to undergo recovery. In this regard, it is necessary to provide for the payment of expensive technical means of rehabilitation, as well as funds for the development of the musculoskeletal system,” he said.

Also, the Circle of Kindness will pay for medicines for children with other complex diseases, which are not currently fully funded by regional budgets, the president added.

The Circle of Kindness was created in early 2021 by decree of Vladimir Putin. It provides medicines for children with rare diseases due to a 2% increase in personal income tax for Russians whose annual income exceeds 5 million rubles. In 2021, Krug Dobrob purchased drugs for more than 2.1 thousand children, 60 billion rubles were reserved from the budget for this, and 75 billion rubles were actually allocated. The Fund buys, among other things, unregistered medicines. One of them was the most expensive drug in the world – a drug for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy zolgensma. One dose of this medicine costs more than $2 million (about 130 million rubles).
