Yesterday, August 4, flights of balloons began in Kostroma as part of the Ballooning Festival. Citizens could observe seven balloons in the Kostroma sky at once. They were piloted by Artem Bondarenko (Kaluga), Svetlana Rein (Kaluga region), Nikolai Leonov (Moscow), Diana Nassonova (Moscow region), Anton Tezavrov (Kostroma), Nazar Smirnov (Kostroma), Igor Arshavka (Luhansk People’s Republic).
Initially, the hot air balloons were supposed to take off from the Yunost stadium, on Tekstilshchikov Avenue, but due to the change in wind direction, the start had to be moved outside the city – to the fields outside the village of Aferovo.
Today the balloon festival will continue – this time the field near the village of Serednyaya, Kostroma region, will become a “take-off platform”. Then Nerekhta will become the center of the festival ballooning, where balloon flights are associated with the legend of the first Russian balloonist Ivan Kryakutny.
On the morning of August 6, the grand opening of flights and a concert corresponding to the moment will take place in Nerekhta.
