Actor Buddy Duress, on the run from authorities, dies of an overdose
The American actor known as Buddy Duress died at the age of 38 from cardiac arrest caused by an overdose of a mixture of various drugs. This was reported by the People portal.
As it turned out, Duress, whose real name was Michael Stathis, passed away in the fall, but information about his death became known only now. It was made public by the actor’s relatives.
“He died of cardiac arrest after a drug overdose in November,” Stathis’ brother told reporters.
Duress starred in the Safdie brothers’ crime drama Good Time, opposite Robert Pattinson. The film is partly based on Duress’s own life story. He is also known for his role in the film “God Knows.”
Duress spent several years in prison for drug trafficking. In total, he was detained at least ten times; in addition to drugs, the violations were related to thefts and threats to burn down his own mother’s house. In 2013, he was supposed to go to treatment for drug addiction by court order, but disappeared and spent a year on the run.
