Utility services have eliminated the accident at CHPP-3 in Engels, Saratov region, reported the region’s Minister of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities Sergei Sokolov. Due to the emergency, heat supply parameters were reduced in 375 apartment buildings, where 117 thousand people live, as well as in 51 social facilities. Temperatures in the city reach –20°C.

“A defect in one of the boilers of CHPP-3 has been eliminated, due to which the parameters of heat supply to residential buildings and social facilities were reduced. The situation has been normalized,” Mr. Sokolov told Interfax.

During and after the New Year holidays, residents of a number of Russian regions experienced power outages. Kremlin tied up heating shutdowns due to frost and wear and tear of housing and communal services. This week in Saratov and Engels, schoolchildren canceled exercise due to the cold.
