The Thai press urged guests of their country to be prepared for an epidemic of three infectious diseases at once, citing a memorandum issued by the country’s Ministry of Health. Amid the death of a Russian couple in a plane crash while flying home for medical help, some compatriots suspect that “the Thais are simply refusing to treat us.”
The Thai media outlet The Thaiger reported that the outbreak of “the most insidious Thai trio” (flu, dengue fever and another subtype of Covid) is already in effect. The Bangkok Health Department, when asked whether everything is so serious, answers that it could become even more serious, since “against the backdrop of an untreated mass, there is a threat of 12 more infectious diseases.”
“By “untreated mass” they mean relocants who do not have health insurance and free money in order to see a doctor,” they interpret the answer of their department at the “Phuket tourist medical office”, where tourists who apply are given an initial medical examination, basic tests are taken and, if necessary, sent to the hospital. In addition to the standard ones, among the highly probable outbreaks is chikungunya (a type of tropical fever. – Auto.), Zika virus, monkeypox, typhus, HIV and syphilis.
– And what about the last two?
– The incidence curve is rising sharply against the backdrop of a weakened body, lack of treatment for the titular disease, unsanitary conditions and lack of proper monitoring.
The Thai Ministry of Health claims that “the majority of deaths occur in adults, mainly due to delayed treatment and secondary infections.”
It is known that medicine in Thailand is at a high level (5th place in terms of efficiency according to the GHS Index (Global Health Index. – Auto.). But at the same time they scare us with dengue, which they themselves treat better than anyone else?! In December, the domestic star, 58-year-old Irina Bezrukova, also experienced a tropical disease. According to the actress, a week before her flight home, she felt unwell, her temperature rose to 39.5 degrees. A Thai doctor arrived and diagnosed dengue, but there was no treatment as such. True, as the doctor predicted, if his recommendations were followed (bed rest and drinking a lot), the disease, having gone through all its stages, ended on its own.
Now in this regard, first of all, the Evsyukovs are remembered – a Russian couple who died on January 21 as a result of a mini-jet crash. The 64-year-old wife fell ill while on vacation in Pattaya, and her 65-year-old husband accompanied her on a medical flight to a Moscow clinic.
– The Evsyukovs are not poor people, why did they refuse to be treated in Pattaya? – I ask our relocants living in this city.
“Anna Evsyukova was treated,” answers Veronica, an ex-Petersburg resident, a physician by training. – They kept me on a ventilator. But there was no improvement. And when such hospitalization is prolonged, and the person is also elderly, anxiety always begins. The Thais do not want force majeure in their institution, so that later rumors will spread that a Russian woman has died here. But, by the way, I don’t think that Anna was sent with some kind of particularly terrible infection, it was a matter of age. Anatoly, her husband, decided that he would better organize the treatment of his beloved wife at home.
Among our relocants in Pattaya there are also pilots who are confident that the rules during the sanitary flight with the Evsyukovs on board were grossly violated: the flight to pick up a sick Russian woman and back to the Russian Federation was carried out by the same crew, taking into account pre- and post-flight procedures their work shift was 17 hours without sleep, and according to Russian laws, no more than 13 are allowed. Indeed, according to the already published schedules of the fateful sanitary board, the pilots had only 7 hours to rest upon arrival in Thailand, which is 2.5 times less than the required 18 hours for a flight of this complexity. The Russian investigation will find out this, but the Thai one has already come to the conclusion that only “disease investigation teams” will help deal with the sick long-steers (long-term guests of the country) – the Thai press reports this.
