Tesla began sales of the Cybertruck electric pickup truck – Kommersant

Yesterday, November 30, the American company Tesla delivered the first Cybertruck electric pickup trucks to customers. In honor of this, Tesla put on a real show, which it broadcast on social networks – the broadcast received more than 3.5 million views. The Cybertruck is the company’s first new model in four years.

Tesla sells a new electric car from $60.9 thousand to $100 thousand, which is about 50% more expensive than the original estimate. There are three versions of the pickup truck: single-engine rear-wheel drive (cruising range up to 400 km, maximum speed – 177 km/h), dual-engine all-wheel drive (cruising range up to 480 km, maximum speed – 193 km/h) and three-engine all-wheel drive (cruising range up to 800 km, maximum speed – 209 km/h). Experts say the futuristic look of the electric vehicle may turn off traditional pickup truck buyers who value practicality, but it could attract wealthy buyers looking for something different.

Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck prototype in 2019. It was assumed that its serial production would begin in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then problems with the supply of automotive components and chips, the release was significantly delayed. As a result, serial production of the Cybertruck began only in July of this year. It was previously reported that by 2025 the production of such electric vehicles should reach 250 thousand per year.
