Terror attack near Russian embassy called sabotage in Afghanistan

The attack on the Russian embassy in Kabul, which claimed the lives of two members of the diplomatic mission and several local residents, is an attempt to sabotage relations between Russia and Afghanistan. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Taliban government (the Taliban movement is banned in Russia) Abdul Kahar Balkhi on Twitter.

“Our government has close relations with the Russian Federation and will not allow enemies to sabotage relations between the two countries with such negative actions,” he said.

The security forces have launched a comprehensive investigation into the attack, the Taliban government spokesman added.

An explosion in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the consular section of the Russian Embassy in Kabul was staged by a suicide bomber today at 9:20 Moscow time, the Russian Foreign Ministry said earlier. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the protection of the embassy by the Afghan authorities would be strengthened. He expressed hope that the organizers of the attack would be found and punished.
