The State Duma Commission for the Investigation of Interference in the Internal Affairs of Russia has developed a bill that introduces administrative fines for violating electoral laws by foreign agents. For individuals, the fine will be from 10 thousand to 30 thousand rubles, for officials – up to 500 thousand rubles, for legal entities – up to 1 million rubles.
The concept of the project was supported at the meeting of the commission today, September 5, informed its head Vasily Piskarev. According to him, they will be fined for carrying out by a foreign agent “activities that contribute to or hinder the nomination and election of registered candidates in elections, as well as the achievement of a certain result in elections and a referendum.”
This year, on the Single Election Day on September 11, about 4.6 thousand election campaigns will take place in 81 regions. 14 heads of regions will be elected, and more than 31 thousand deputy mandates and elected positions will also be replaced. In the Communist Party called The main problem of the upcoming elections is administrative pressure on the opposition: in Moscow alone, about 200 people were removed from the party out of 1,000 candidates nominated for municipalities.
