Temple in Bucha moved from UOC to schismatic OCU

The Church of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Bucha moved from the self-governing Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) as part of the Moscow Patriarchate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), which is schismatic and is not recognized by the ROC.
According to the city administration in social networks, this decision was made following the results of the city meeting of believers.
“According to the counting commission, out of 348 people present, 337 people voted for the transition. There were 11 against,” the message says.
The meeting participants also approved an appeal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Parliament regarding the ban on the UOC.
The conflict between the Ukrainian authorities and the UOC escalated in March 2023. The leadership of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve terminated the agreement with the UOC and ordered its representatives to leave the territory. In response, the clergy filed a lawsuit in court to challenge the termination of the lease.
On August 9, a court in Kyiv upheld the termination of the agreement between the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra reserve and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine explained that the grounds for termination were a number of identified violations of the contract. On August 10, UOC lawyer Nikita Chekman said that the court allowed the pilgrims to be evicted from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
In April, the Shevchenkovsky District Court in Kyiv placed Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), the abbot of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, under house arrest, refusing to allow him to attend services at the Lavra. Russia demanded the release of the clergyman. On August 7, the Metropolitan was released on bail of 33.3 million hryvnia ($902,000).
