Vilfand: the temperature on the planet has been above normal for nine months in a row

Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand said that for nine months the temperature on the planet has been breaking records for the first time in history.

He clarified that for eight months in a row the temperature has approached the “milestone” of the Paris Agreements and exceeded the norm by 1.5 degrees.

“February was the ninth record warm month in a row. Global temperatures have been 1.5 degrees above normal for eight months now, starting in July,” Vilfand noted.

The forecaster added that this is the first time such an increase in temperature has been observed on the planet. He clarified that it is not worth comparing the weather in the region of residence with global temperature changes.
