A Telegram spokesperson confirmed that attackers can access the camera and microphone of app users on macOS devices. This follows from the company’s statement on its official Twitter page, made in response to a message from users about the vulnerability of the application.
The company clarified that users who downloaded the application from the App Store could encounter such a problem. If the application was downloaded from the official website of the messenger, then Telegram does not have such a vulnerability. An update to fix the issue is under review by Apple.
May 15 Google Engineer Dan Reva told in his blog that he found a vulnerability in the Telegram app for macOS. He claims that due to flaws in the system, attackers can activate the computer’s camera and microphone and bypass Apple’s privacy mechanism.
