Taking care of the predator will contribute to the conservation of biodiversity. The details were provided by the deputy head of the capital’s Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, Emil Petrosyan.

“The Technopolis Moscow special economic zone became one of the first infrastructure sites in the country where they began to implement ESG practices. The capital SEZ has chosen the program of guardianship of the Red Book wolf as one of the ways to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity,” noted Emil Petrosyan. He added that many SEZ residents use resource-saving technologies, conduct separate waste collection and monitor CO2 emissions.

The red or mountain wolf is listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Red Book of Russia. Animals have been kept at the Moscow Zoo since 1957. Today there are three males living here. Technopolis will take custody of the male named Ron and will pay about 600 thousand rubles a year for his maintenance.

“The task of preserving biodiversity is one of the absolute priorities for the country. Taking part in the care program of the Moscow Zoo, the Technopolis Moscow SEZ chose the animal most in need of support,” said Gennady Degtev, General Director of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ.

In 2023, the Technopolis Moscow SEZ received the ESG Excellence Award in the category “Project aimed at achieving sustainable development goals.” Last year was named the year of sustainable development in the SEZ.
