American corporation Microsoft added 3D meetings feature in the Teams service. Users will be able to hold virtual meetings even without a VR headset.
The 3D meeting function became possible thanks to integration with the Mesh service, and the communication itself is built in the same way as in the corporate version of the AltspaceVR social platform, which Microsoft bought in 2017 and closed in 2023. The new function works best with virtual reality headsets, but currently compatibility is only with Quest devices from Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
It is possible to enable spatial audio, and the 3D spaces themselves can be customized. Users will also be able to play games with colleagues inside. Virtual Spaces will be available to all Enterprise plan users, but you will need a Teams Premium subscription to create your own 3D Space.
Previously Microsoft released A major update to Teams with a new interface and improved performance. Also the company added in Teams, the ability to apply 12 digital makeup options from the Maybelline Beauty app.
