A relatively lenient sentence was passed by the Tushinsky court of the capital to a taxi driver who knocked down a retired spouse to death in the north-west of Moscow.

As MK reported at one time, the accident occurred on the evening of March 11 on Svoboda Street. A man, driving a Kia Sid taxi car, did not notice in the dark two pedestrians who got off the tram (the stop was in the middle of the roadway). A husband and wife of retirement age were hit and died from their injuries.

However, the court took into account that the driver fully compensated the damage to the family, is a donor, received sports awards when he was a law enforcement officer, and also suffers from a chronic joint disease. As a result, he was sentenced to 2 years of forced labor with a deduction of 10% of his income to the state. Also, for 2 years, he was deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving a vehicle.
