The 19th military prosecutor’s office demands through the court to block the UN news website and the website of the Turkish Anadolu news agency, TASS reports with reference to the Leninsky District Court of the Vladimir Region, where the lawsuit was filed.
“The court registered a lawsuit to recognize information disseminated via the Internet as prohibited information. The lawsuit contains demands to prohibit access to the sites https://news.un.org and https://www.aa.com.tr,” the agency was told.
As specified in the court, the Roskomnadzor department for the Vladimir region is also listed as an interested person in the suit. The hearing on the claim is due on January 27.
Since the beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine on February 24 last year, Roskomnadzor began blocking access to media sites, as well as to the social networks Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (the latter two belong to the American company Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
At the end of November, it became known that the agency had blocked or removed more than 89,000 pages on the Internet in the last quarter containing prohibited information.
