The mayor of Energodar, Zaporozhye region, Oleksandr Volga, was relieved of his post by decision of the regional authorities, TASS reports, citing a source in the regional administration.
“Volga was relieved of his post and banned from staying on the territory of the region,” said the interlocutor of the agency, adding that the decree on this was signed by the acting governor of the region Evgeny Balitsky.
Volga declared “Izvestia”, which is considering a transition to another higher position.
“I’m on vacation. I am considering an offer for a higher position. No decision has been made. I love the city and the people of Energodar. But if they say that I am needed on another front, then I will accept any order from the higher leadership, ”he said.
During a special operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of a part of the Zaporozhye region, including the city of Energodar, which houses the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the ZNPP. On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed international treaties with the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions on the admission of regions to Russia. Volga was appointed mayor after an attempt was made on the life of the head of Energodar Andrey Shevchik at the end of May.
