The Russian army used new Russian T-14 Armata tanks in combat operations. About this with reference to a source in the military-industrial complex informs TASS.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the tanks were actively used by the South group of troops. “Several units participated in the battle to see how the tank would perform. Then they were withdrawn from the front line,” the source says. According to another interlocutor, the necessary tests of the tank are still ongoing, the T-14 “Armata” entered service with the units of the Southern Military District.
The T-14 tank, whose main feature is an uninhabited tower, is produced by the Uralvagonzavod concern (part of Rostec). It was first presented at Victory Day in 2015, and in 2019 the tank passed preliminary tests. In April, RIA Novosti, citing sources, also reportedthat the Russian army began to use the T-14 “Armata” in the special operation zone in Ukraine, but they did not participate in direct assault operations.
18 July Ministry of Industry and Trade informedthat the Russian Ministry of Defense was sent a batch of T-90M “Proryv” tanks and modernized T-72B3M. The plant is also upgrading T-72B tanks to T-72B3M, T80BV tanks to T80BVM level.
In March, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev declaredthat in 2023 the Russian army will receive about 1,500 tanks.
