Tahiti Pro: competition still off at Teahupoo

After four days off, the Tahiti Pro (August 11-22) – 10th round of the pro circuit and final stage before the play-offs in Trestles in September – was scheduled to start on Monday. The 7:30 a.m. call was pushed back to 11:15 a.m. before a third call at 1:30 p.m.
At that time, almost everyone believed it. The judges had taken their places in the tower planted in the lagoon while the surfers were training on the Teahupoo spot and, according to our information, they were ready to fight.
But the competition director has decided otherwise: due to a still weak swell and rainy weather, this 5th day of competition has been declared off. The next call was scheduled for Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. local time, or 6:30 p.m. in mainland France. There is a good chance for the women’s event to be launched, before the start of the men’s draw from Wednesday, in normally very heavy conditions.
