Tagesspiegel: Scholz put Macron in his place after words about Ukraine

The German publication Tagesspielgel believes that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz put French President Emmanuel Macron in his place after he said that the heads of Western countries are discussing the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.

“Until now, Macron and Scholz have not entered into such open confrontation,” the publication says.

German journalists suggest that after this we should expect “an angry reaction in government circles outside the Office of the Federal Chancellor.”

At the same time, the publication emphasizes, Macron’s statement was not the only stone in the garden of Scholz, who has repeatedly emphasized that he does not intend to make Germany a party to the conflict. So the French leader said that the West has created a “Coalition on Long-Range Weapons” for Ukraine. And this also runs counter to the German Chancellor’s refusal to provide Taurus missiles to Kyiv. Scholz had to report this again in the evening of the same day, after Macron’s words.
