Medvedev read Stalin’s angry telegram at a meeting on the military-industrial complex
Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, at a meeting of the working group of the Military-Industrial Commission, read out the famous telegram from Joseph Stalin to the directors of defense factories Shenkman and Tretyakov, in which he last warned about the need to produce more aircraft for the front. The telegram is kept in the Stalin’s Bunker museum in Samara. It is dated December 23, 1941.
“So that everyone understands how victory was achieved,” Medvedev explained to the audience why he decided to read out the text of the famous telegram.
In a government document from the time of the Great Patriotic War, Supreme Commander Joseph Stalin, addressing plant directors, noted: “You have failed our country and the Red Army. You do not deign to still produce the Il-2.”
Stalin noted that the Red Army needed these planes “like air, like bread.” He warned that it would not be possible to “get rid of the country,” threatened punishment and asked not to make the government lose patience.
“I demand that more Ilovs be released. I’m warning you for the last time,” Stalin wrote at the end of the telegram.
